Content: Over 3 billion people (half the world's population) live on less than $2.50 per day - that's less than a cup of coffee or a magazine. Every night 800 million people will go to bed hungry yet the world has never been richer. How can young people in the UK respond to global inequality and injustic effectively from a place of faith?
Understanding 21st Century Drug Culture
Facilitator: Darrell Tunningly of Hope Corner After a life of crime and drug addiction Darrell found himself in prison for armed robbery, but God had a plan for his life that he could never have seen coming. While in HMP Wolds Darrell attended an alpha course and Jesus broke through into his life. From that day almost 12 years ago Darrell has lived all out for Jesus and uses his powerful testimony of redemption to reach those who think they are beyond saving and inspire the church to reach further than they thought possible. Darrell is part of the senior leadership and Youth Pastor of Hope Corner community church in Runcorn. As part of his role as an AOG minister he is also the regional Director for Community Missions, mobilising the church to reach the community.
Content: A no-holds barred look at the world of drugs and addiction, through personal testimony and 10 years experience of working with young people in one of the most socially deprived areas of the country, we will drop the veil on substance misuse among teens in the uk.

Understanding Small Groups

Content: There is no doubt that quite a bit of our time spent with young people is in small groups. Whether that's in a bible study, discussion group or just chilling out togher, but how much do we understand the roles that people take on when they find themselves ina small group setting. This seminar will be like no other with some careful consideration being given to potatoes and what they have to teach us about the make-up, members and method of our groups. We hope that this will bring a new perspective on your work with young people in small groups, as well as a few new ideas in using potatoes!!

Facilitator: Chris Curtis Craig works within the church of England Blackburn diocese and is a very experienced schools work practitioner and thinker.
Content: Christian youth workers visit schools to do a huge range of activities: from taking assemblies and lessons to running lunchtime groups or helping with pastoral care and mentoring. But in a rapidly changing educational world, what works best and, even more importantly, what are we trying to achieve? In this session we'll explore what schools want and need from us, and how to deliver it, drawing from the stories and experiences of schools projects all over the UK.

Puppets
Facilitator & content: Ian & Elaine Coules Ian & Elain have been full time chidlrens workers for the last 20 years doing everything from local church childrens events to running childrens work at Easter People and involved in the childrens work at Spring Harvest. They have also been a part of the main team running Coverdale puppets for the last 12 years. This is an outreach ministry into schools and communities using puppets. They also run about 20 holiday clubs a year plus numerous family services, praise parties and evangelistic events to children. So they bring this experience and knowledge into their training.

Engaging Children with the Bible
Facilitator: Leo Roberts. A Youth and Children’s Work Training and Development Officer for the United Reformed Church. He is responsible for helping churches to more effectively meet the needs of children and young people in nearly 150 churches throughout the North Western Synod ranging from Carlisle to Macclesfield. A regular MOSAIC contributor and has been deemed to be 'the face of MOSAIC' which you can read into what you like!
Content: It's not enough that children listen to Bible stories, for them to really understand how the Word of God has relevance to them today they need to engage with the stories, make connections and think around the stories they hear.
Godly Play - Note: This is one seminar running over 2 sessions
Facilitator: Christine Sandiford. Manchester Diocese Team Christine is an accredited Godly Play Teacher and licensed lay Reader in the Church of England. She is also a member of the Manchester Diocese Godly Play Group and has been using Godly Play at church on Sunday mornings for three years with a mixed age group of children, four years old and up, and also with classes in a local C of E Primary school (nursery and up).
Content: Godly Play is a creative and imaginative approach to Christian nurture, rooted in the thinking and work of Maria Montessori. It uses symbols and objects to tell stories and encourage exploration within an ethos of worship and sacred space. In the last decade its open, wondering approach has become increasingly influential across a broad range of ministries and its effects can be seen in a number of published resources. Drama Workshop
Facilitator: Rhema Theatre Company Rhema theatre Company tour throughout the UK with children and adults shows based on bible stories into Primary Schools and churches. They also go to Christian festivals such as Spring Harvest. Come and learn from a professional group!
Content: Come and join Rhema Theatre and learn the basics of Drama for your work at your church. Rhema will introduce you to some basic drama games, warm ups and show how you bring simple bible stories alive through drama. This can be used with children and adults and really support your work at the church. This is sure to be a busy, fun hour which will only help you in the future.

Loss & Bereavement
Facilitator: Deb Instone
Married with three children (15,13 & 10), and involved in a Baptist church in Lymm. she has been on the pastoral team for over 10 years and has been a pastoral deacon. Deb trained as a person-centred counsellor and teaches counselling as well as being a counsellor in a FE College for 15-19 yr olds. She works privately and in the church with individuals, couples and families. Content: A practical seminar for both children’s workers and youth leaders. We will look at how we can equip children and young people to begin to come to terms with the loss and deal with it in an appropriate way. We will look at symptoms of grief and the aim of grieving. We will try to help you recognise the signs of children and young people struggling with everyday life after bereavement and suggest appropriate strategies to help them cope with their loss.

Facilitator: Chick Yuill Chickhas spent over thirty-five years in full-time ministry.Most of this time has been devoted to leading and pastoring local congregations, both in the UK and the USA.He is a passionate communicator and has frequently appeared on national radio and TV, speaking on issues of faith and morality. He is also a regular speaker at major Christian conferences such as Spring Harvest and contributes frequently to Radio Two’s Good Morning Sunday show.
Content: The ultimate purpose of Christian leadership - whatever the specifics of the role and wherever it takes place - is to make disciples. How do we fulfill that purpose while still carrying out the other functions of the role?

I'm Sandra, Regional Minister for Youth for the North Western Baptist Association. I'm involved with chrches across teh NW of England encouraging and training youth and children's workers, both volunteer and paid. Part of my role is to keep churches up to date with safeguarding and child protection issues. I’ve been involved in youthwork for 24 years.
Content: The new Vetting and Barring Scheme will affect all churches whether they work with 2 children or 200. Come along and hear in simple language how it will affect you and what your church needs to do to comply with the new government legislation.
Consumerism as Pagan Religion
Facilitator: Mark Roque of WYSOC Mark is a great storyteller who has spent many years in education. For eleven years he taught Philosophy & Religious Studies at Prior Park College where he developed a unique Christian worldview course that combined film, music, story-telling and subversive role plays. He is passionate about salt-water crocodiles, philosophy and football. He is a tutor for the West Yorkshire School of Christian Studies. He lives in Leeds with his wife Anne, daughter Hannah and son Emile.
Content: Through film clips and lyrics explore the fundamental dogmas of this popular and vibrant western religion. How should Christians respond?
This seminar is running twice but with a different approach in each. The first will be within the framework of 'Stories that build faith and understanding' and the second 'Jesus' parables and discipleship'.
